Editing Services

Editors play a number of roles in the production process. Here's a breakdown of where and how I can help!

• Structural editing (or developmental editing) takes place while the author is outlining an early draft. At this stage, the editor assists with project organization, planning, and reader accessibility.
• Stylistic editing (or line editing) strengthens the draft by clarifying meaning, refining language, and uplifting the author's voice for their intended audience.
• Copyediting involves checking a document for grammatical correctness, accuracy, consistency and completeness before it goes to layout.
• By comparison, proofreading refers to the process of reviewing documents in their intended format, correcting any errors in text and visuals before the final publication.
• Sensitivity reading (or authenticity reading) involves checking material for social bias, identifying issues, and proposing alternatives that are more respectful towards marginalized communities.
